Local woman left traumatised after WhatsApp post receives no reactions
A 23 year-old woman has been left traumatised after she posted a comment on a WhatsApp group called ‘Besties’ that she thought was really funny but her friends obviously didn’t.
Emma Bracken is recovering at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore after suffering serious injuries to her ego when nobody reacted to her post about Taylor Swift.
“It was really funny too.” said Emma. “Not even a thumbs up? Those bitches call all f**k off now as far as I’m concerned. They’re not my friends anymore.”
Recent statistics show that around 10% of all admissions to Ireland’s Accident and Emergency units are victims of WhatsApp Trauma and that number is rising steadily.
Doctor Patrick Byrne is a Consultant Neurologist at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital and he says it’s becoming a national epidemic.
“It’s not just WhatsApp either but all social media. Many victims have suffered a lack of likes on a status update or had a friend request ignored while others have sent drunken private messages to people they secretly fancy.
“We’re also seeing an increase in physical injuries which tend to happen in the morning when people go scrambling for their phones after they wake up and suddenly remember what they sent the night before.”
Meanwhile back in Tullamore Hospital Emma Bracken finally plucked up the courage to put another post on her best friends WhatsApp group. It was emotional and heartfelt, describing what she’s been through over the last few days and explaining how the trauma of being ignored can lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation. Unfortunately that post also received no reactions.
