Oasis add extra Irish date at JJ Hough’s pub in Banagher, Co. Offaly

Oasis have added a surprise extra date to their Irish concerts next year after confirming they will play at JJ Hough’s pub in Banagher in County Offaly.

The pub hit the headlines last week when they posted a photo of their first turf fire of the year on Facebook. After receiving a comment warning them about their carbon footprint, JJ Hough’s outstanding reply went viral.

It pointed out the utter hypocrisy of the comment and ended with this beauty: “Maybe call in some day and I’ll give you my carbon footprint up your hole.”

Having being made aware of the commotion, the Gallagher brothers say they want to support JJ Hough’s in any way they can.

Noel told local radio station Midlands 103 FM “We spent 3 months of every year of our childhood in Mayo. The smell of burning turf brings it all back and makes me quite emotional. I love it! We’re going to Banagher to support the local turf-burning community but more importantly to deck any c*nt that has a problem with it.”

Liam Gallagher also seemed to reference the JJ Hough’s story when he tweeted “CARBON FOOTPRINT MY AAARSE!!!”

Research shows that if every household in Ireland burned turf nonstop from morning ’til night every single day for the next hundred years, we would cause around 0.1% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.

China and the United States combined cause 45% of toxic gas emissions, proving that anyone who takes issue with Irish turf fires is a certified gobshite.

We asked chief gobshite Eamon Ryan for his thoughts on the JJ Hough’s turf story. He said something about lettuce and then fell asleep.

Meanwhile at JJ Hough’s in beautiful Banagher on the banks of the river Shannon it’s business as usual. We would like to encourage all our readers to make the effort, if possible, to go there and spend a few quid in this legendary Irish pub. And while you’re there, don’t forget to go over and warm your arse at the lovely turf fire.

Tickets for the Oasis show will only be available to people who have a turf shed full of turf.
