RTE reveals new Sunday Game panel for 2025 GAA Championships

RTE has revealed the new Sunday Game studio panel for the 2025 GAA Championships and viewers can expect some big changes.

Joanne Cantwell became the show’s first female presenter in 2018 after years of male dominance but RTE bosses say they need to go a step further if they want to keep up with an ever-changing world.

Non-binary American TV presenter Angel Flatbottom will become the new host of the show in an attempt to appeal to a wider audience and regular pundits Donal Óg Cusack and Michael Duignan will be replaced with renowned drag queens Velvet Vixen and Luna Lovelace.

RTE head of sport Declan McGinty told reporters at a press conference in Dublin this morning “Straight white people have dominated our screens for far too long and we need to rectify that situation. We live in a multi-cultural, multi-sexual society and it’s time that was reflected in our programming.”

We put it to Declan that former GAA players are surely the best people qualified to be on a panel talking about GAA matches.

“Why would you exclude someone just because they never played GAA?” he replied. “That sort of small-minded, backwards thinking is a thing of the past. Frankly I find it offensive.”

So what do the new panellists know about hurling and football? We asked Declan.

“Now I find your line of questioning not only offensive but also racist, sexist and far-right. This press conference is over.”

The first Sunday Game with the new panel will be on RTE1 on April 6th.
