Dublin man misses the days when the only foreigners in Dublin were bleedin culchies

A Dublin man has told how he longs for the days when the only foreigners in Dublin were “bleedin culchies”.

Anthony Breslin said he used to make fun of culchies but now just wishes they’d come back.

“You never know what you’ve got til it’s gone. We used to call culchies in Dublin foreigners back in the day coz they were the only non-Dubs in Dublin. Never in my worst nightmares did I ever imagine that they’d be replaced with actual foreigners. Moore Street looks more like bleedin downtown Mogadishu these days. Come back culchies. We miss you.”

Anthony said walking around Dublin city centre today you’d never know you were in Ireland.

“Dublin is just another generic multicultural city now. There’s nothing Irish about it. The character is gone. Take a walk down any street in the city centre and you won’t understand a word anyone is saying. Okay so I can’t understand a bleedin word culchies say either but at least they’re Irish. What a bleedin kip!”
