Status Orange heatwave warning issued for next week for all 32 counties
Ireland is set to be hit with a status orange heatwave warning next week as a scorching boiling heat blast will bring temperatures nationwide up to a sizzling 12°C.
This follows on from this week’s status orange cold weather warning when temperatures dropped to an unbearable life-threatening -4°C in most counties.
We asked Jamie Colgan from Met Eireann what’s going on and why every type of weather has to be status something with a warning these days.
“The type of weather we experienced this week is unheard of in Ireland. Well, apart from during winter obviously. Also status orange, status red, heatwave and the word warning sound a lot more dramatic than just the usual weather forecast don’t you think? It just sounds more scorchy and burny.”
People are being urged not to ignore the heatwave warning for next week and to stay indoors at all times because if you go outside you’ll probably die. May God help us all!
