Another Olympic medal as Ireland take bronze in the Pigeon Strangling
There was more Olympic glory for Ireland today as Aoife Dunne won the bronze medal in the Pigeon Strangling competition.
Friends and supporters in her hometown of Tullamore in Co Offaly have already began the celebrations. Aoife’s father Pat said all her hard work has finally paid off.
“I’m so happy for her. She’s been strangling pigeons since she was a child. Not just pigeons either. All sorts of birds. Sparrows, robins, crows, anything she could get her hands on. Sometimes she’d break into neighbours houses and take their budgies out of their cages and strangle them.
“Of course they’d call the Guards and have her arrested but look at her now. We couldn’t be prouder.”
The next big medal hopeful for Ireland is Siobhán Murphy who takes part in the Poodle Teasing final this afternoon.
