Jedward release album of Irish rebel songs to coincide with King Charles coronation

Pop duo Jedward have released their second album of Irish rebel songs, having released volume one last year after the passing of Queen Elizabeth.

The pair have been causing controversy for some time now with their anti-monarchy posts on social media and even called on King Charles to give the six counties back to Ireland.

I caught up with John and Edward at Windmill Lane Recording Studios in Dublin and began by asking them what are their favourite songs on the new album.

“We’ve written a couple of new ones but the old ones are the best and my favourite is Go on home British soldiers.” said Edward. “But it’s not republican enough so we’ve changed it to Go on home British bastards.”

John said “My favourite has to be Come out ye black and tans. I just wish I was around when the black and tans were here. I would have killed at least a hundred of them. Maybe a thousand. Come out and fight me like a man. Cowards!”

I asked the lads if they’re not worried their outspoken views might impact their career, particularly in Britain.

“No.” said Edward. “Our last gig over there was when we were booked for the opening of a second hand furniture shop in Hull. Four people turned up. I don’t think it will impact our career at all.”

So will the guys be watching the coronation of King Charles on Saturday?

“Will we bollocks!” said John. “Why are RTE showing it anyway? It’s a disgrace! I bet Tubridy will be commentating and loving it. The skinny west-brit prick!”

Jedward’s album ‘Fuck The Brits volume 2’ goes on general release today.
