How Many Beers Should You Have With Breakfast? We Ask The Experts (They Say 4)

It’s a question many have pondered during the current lockdown. Just how many cans should you have with your cornflakes? Obviously you should have a few because you don’t have to go anywhere but how many do doctors recommend? We asked Dr. Paul Molloy of the Institute for Medical Research.

“Well, as Sheryl Crow once said, ‘I like a good beer buzz early in the morning’. And who doesn’t? When it comes to how many, well that depends on several things but as a rule, if you’re on lockdown I would recommend having four good sized beers with your breakfast. That should set you up nicely for a day of falling asleep on the couch while trying to watch the entire contents of Netflix.”

However, Dr. Molloy said that while it’s easy to get carried away, people should remember to drink in moderation.

“Obviously I’m not recommending drinking beer every morning. That would be detrimental to your health. If you’re stuck at home, try varying your routine a little, like maybe every second morning having a few glasses of wine instead. Remember, variety is the spice of life and breakfast time is no different but whatever you do during the lockdown, make sure it involves drinking alcohol. Otherwise you’ll just go mad.”
