United confident ahead of Liverpool clash “We should only lose by a couple of goals”
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has said he is confident his players can put in a good performance against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and only lose by a couple of goals.
United crashed out of the Champions League last night after a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich that meant the reds finished bottom of their group.
Still, Ten Hag says he believes his team can bounce back straight away.
“These are good players. They have the quality and the ability to recover from this disappointment and go to Liverpool on Sunday and only lose by 2 or 3 goals. Maybe 4 but that’s it.”
Finishing bottom of their Champions League table means United will have no European football after Christmas with Galatasaray taking the Europa League spot. However, Ten Hag said this is a good thing.
“When the other big clubs are playing in Europe, we will be at home, resting, concentrating on the Premier League. I think we are going to surprise a lot of people who are writing us off right now. Just wait until the end of the season because when you see the final table, I am telling you now. Manchester United will not be relegated.”
