Dáithí Ó Sé offered role as next James Bond

Daithí Ó Sé has reportedly been offered the role of James Bond. The 47 year-old Kerryman had never been touted as the next 007 until now and the news comes as a surprise to most Bond fans, particularly in the UK.

As the story broke this morning, right-wing British television news channel GB News reacted angrily and questioned the decision to offer the part to a “bloody Paddy” instead of a British actor, seemingly unaware former Bond Pierce Brosnan hails from the Meath metropolis of Navan.

Ó Sé rose to fame as a weatherman on TG4 and currently presents weekday lifestyle show Today on RTE1 among other things. He has assured fans that his new starring role will not affect his Rose of Tralee hosting duties.

A clearly delighted Daithí was asked if he thinks his Kerry accent might affect the success of his first outing as James Bond because global audiences could have trouble understanding him.

“Ah not at all.” he replied. “Sure aren’t I on telly in Ireland every day for years and most Irish people can’t understand a word I say.”
