No TD’s attend vigil for local man who died after unprovoked assault in Blanchardstown

A silent vigil that was held yesterday for a man who died after a vicious, unprovoked assault in Blanchardstown last Sunday was attended by no local TD’s.

People laid flowers at the spot on Mill Road where Alex Coughlan was found unconscious after the shocking attack that took place in broad daylight in a busy, built-up area.

Two 16 year-olds have been arrested in relation to the assault.

The local TD’s for the area are:

Ruth Coppinger – People Before Profit.
Jack Chambers – Fianna Fáil.
Emer Currie – Fine Gael.
Paul Donnelly – Sinn Féin.
Roderic O’Gorman -The Green Party.

Mr Coughlan’s family said that he was “truly loved by everyone” who knew him and asked that he “be remembered for the wonderful person he was and the love and laughter he brought to so many”.

A crowd funder has been setup to pay for Mr Coughlan’s funeral costs. You can click here to donate.
