Aviva Stadium’s north stand declared a national embarrassment
The North Stand of Dublin’s Aviva Stadium has officially been declared a national embarrassment.
Ireland’s home ground for both rugby and football internationals is constantly mocked and ridiculed by visiting supporters due to one end looking like it belongs at a GM Vauxhall Conference League match between Darlington and Scunthorpe United.
The Stadium was designed with the north stand far lower than the other three stands after a construction decision was made to limit the ground’s imposition on local residents.
Basically people who bought houses beside a big rugby stadium complained that they didn’t want to live beside a big rugby stadium. Local authorities caved in to their demands and Ireland’s national stadium is now one big national embarrassment.
For those Irish supporters who cringe every time the ball goes down that end of the pitch while watching a match, just remember. It’s going to be like that forever. It’s never, ever going to be redeveloped. That is the redevelopment and it’s finished.
It makes you proud to be Irish.
