Calls for Nigerian Airlines to launch direct one-way flights to Ireland
Paul McRingo Africa Correspondent
There have been calls for all Nigerian Airlines to launch direct one-way flights to Ireland as soon as possible.
Ngozi Chuckwu from the group Nigeria Network Ireland said he finds it ridiculous that direct flights are still not available from his homeland.
“I myself had to fly to London, catch a train and then a ferry to Belfast before driving down to Dublin to seek international protection. Some of my friends had even longer journeys through places like Paris and Rome. That’s not good enough. Tens of thousands of Nigerians continue to arrive in Ireland every year and we demand direct one-way flights now.”
We asked Ngozi what he means by one-way flights. Surely they would operate on a return basis with the potential of bringing thousands of Nigerian tourists to Ireland who might spend a week or two here on vacation and then return home.
He simply replied ‘Lol’.
