Ireland still shite at football

The Republic of Ireland are still shite at football and will continue to be shite for the foreseeable future. That’s the depressing verdict after Stephen Kenny’s men were beaten 2-1 in Athens tonight by a far superior Greece team.

Ireland started brightly and were the better team during the opening 30 seconds but were shite for the rest of the match.

Incredibly there are still Irish fans who insist we have the players to compete at international level despite most of our squad playing in the second and third tier of English football, with many of them struggling to become first team regulars at their clubs.

Ireland manager Stephen Kenny was unusually honest after the game, telling RTE “Yes, we were shite but in my defence, that’s because most of our players are shite. There’s not a lot I can do about that. It’s a shite squad.”

Next up for Ireland is Gibraltar in Dublin on Monday night. Yes, the rock of Gibraltar. They actually have a team and play international football. Lol! At least that’s a guaranteed 3 points. And who are we to begrudge them their first points of the tournament even though it will be at Ireland’s expense. Fair play to them.
