‘Yer One Not Singing The Anthem Must Be A Prod’ Agree Lads Watching Irish Hockey Team

Two local men who watched the Irish women’s hockey team beat South Africa at the Olympic games yesterday noticed one of the players not joining in with the rest of the team singing Amhrán na bhFiann and agreed that she must be a prod.

Paul McGuire and Noel Coughlan made the observation as the Irish girls lined up for their first match of the games. The lads remarked that it’s just like the rugby, where it’s easy to spot the prods during the Irish national anthem because they’re the ones not singing it and this girl is probably Rory Best’s cousin or something.

“Look at her with her eyes closed trying to block it out.” said Noel. “She’s probably thinking about the Queen.”

Paul said they’d know for sure if the girl is a prod when they heard her surname. Noel agreed, adding “She looks like one, with her big Shankill Road head on her.”

Ireland’s next match is against the Netherlands tomorrow and the lads both agreed that the girl in question would be better off playing for them instead “with their big dirty William of Orange shirts.”
