New €50 Million Roundabout Officially Opened In Tullamore

A brand new €50 Million roundabout was officially opened by Minister for Transport Shane Ross in Tullamore earlier today. The roundabout took just under 4 years to complete and the Minister said the end result is something the whole county can be proud of.

“This is what can be achieved when the nation’s top architects and engineers bring their talents together to create not only a much needed traffic relief system but also a structural masterpiece. The people of Offaly can be proud in the knowledge that they now have one of the roundiest roundabouts in the entire country. I honestly can’t wait for my speech to end so I can get into my car and go around it.”

Local Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowan predicted the new roundabout will become one of Offaly’s top tourist attractions.

“Why would anyone from the midlands bother travelling to the Cliffs of Moher or to Giant’s Causeway when we have this beauty on our own doorstep? This roundabout is a gift from Offaly County Council to the people of Tullamore and will be our legacy for years to come.”

Head of Tullamore Town Council Barney Bracken confirmed that due to essential roadworks the roundabout will be dug up next week.
